Hello, my name is Alison Thorne. I am the teacher for the three year olds preschool class. I have lived in Montana for most of my life and I received my degree from the University of Montana. I am married and we have three wonderful children.
For most children, this is their first experience in a classroom environment. My goal is to make the time they spend with me fun, enjoyable, stimulating, and of course educational. We focus on their fine and gross motor skills, their social and emotional development, and their listening and speaking skills. Through the use of songs and finger plays, science exploration, number sense activities, literacy activities, creative movement, art projects and a variety of sensory activities, students are engaged in all aspects of learning.

I am from Lewistown, Montana, but now call Missoula home. I'm married to a wonderful guy, Eric and we have two kids who currently attend Hellgate Elementary and both went through the KinderPrep Program. I have a B.S. in English Education from Minot State University and am licensed to teach in the State of Montana. I'm also current in my first aid certification. I like to read, scrapbook, hang out with my kids, and cruise Pinterest for fun teaching ideas!
The goal for my class is to have your child ready to enter Kindergarten independent, confident, and ready for elementary school. The first half of the year we focus on: – school procedures, manners, friendships, and independence – colors, numbers, shapes – fine motor skills (cutting, holding a pencil, using glue, paint, etc.) –the 5 senses, current seasons and holidays, etc. – recognizing and writing our first names The second half of the year we focus on: – the alphabet (both recognizing and writing Upper and Lowercase letters) –themes related to each letter (for example, letter M = magnets; letter R = rainbows) –things related to the seasons and current holidays – recognizing and writing our last names – continuing our independence and practicing for Kindergarten In all these things I incorporate music, science, and gross motor skills when appropriate. There are multiple opportunities to play every day! Play is learning!

My name is Lorrie Juden. I am the owner and a teacher at KinderPrep Preschool. I have a degree in Elementary education and have taught Preschool for 20 years. A few years ago I noticed there was a need for preschool in the Hellgate Elementary School area, now in our fifth year, KinderPrep is going strong. One of the wonderful things about our preschool is that most of the kids will then go to Hellgate elementary school together. It is just nice having a friend when you begin the school adventure together.
My goal as a Kinder-ready teacher is to take those students who miss the cutoff for kindergarten and see what great adventures and goals we can set for our class. We start with the basics of colors, shapes, and numbers. As we progress through the year we work on writing our first and last names, use zoo phonics with the alphabet, introduce some sight words, and even throw in some simple addition and subtraction without even knowing it. I try to simulate a kindergarten classroom as best as possible with an extra recess in there also. We work through social skills as well as learning to follow directions, and work independently. I think we have a lot of fun in school, at least I know I do!

Hello! My name is Angie Jones, and I am the afternoon teacher here at Kinderprep Preschool. Although I have spent the majority of my life in Montana, I have Minnesota roots (and at times an accent to prove it)! I married my high school sweetheart, and we have two boys, Bridger and Boston. Right out of high school, I attended the University of Montana- GO GRIZ! When we had Bridger, I was blessed enough to trade in my meetings and telephone calls for play dates and parks!
I first met Lorrie when Bridger started preschool, and was amazed immediately with the compassion and care. I know how hard it is to leave your child for the first time, and it’s hard for them, too! When Lorrie contacted me to teach the afternoon class, I was getting ready for my 5th year of subbing in the public school system. I have learned so much from so many AMAZING teachers!
Our curriculum will be based as closely to kindergarten as possible. We will start off with learning and mastering colors, shapes, numbers, and seasons to start. We will learn about the calendar, days of the week, counting by 5’s and 10’s, writing our names, and the weather. Further into the year we will master the alphabet, letter recognition, and writing. Our class has a lot of fun doing projects where we practice cutting and gluing skills! Learning through play is the best way to get ready for what lies ahead. Our kids will understand what teachers expect going into kindergarten, from raising their hands, standing in a line, waiting their turn, and following directions. I want all of our kids to love school and love learning!
